6 Benefits of Younique's Face & Eye Primer

Many years ago prior to becoming a makeup addict, a face primer was not on my list of must haves. However, a girl doesn’t know, what a girl doesn’t know. Now it is an absolute must have!

A good makeup primer is one of the most important items a girl can have in her makeup bag. Although primers can be costly, it has benefits that much outweigh the cost.

So just what exactly does a face and eye primer do? Oh, let me count the ways…

1. Smoother Appearance: Foundation and powder can sometimes emphasize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. A primer smooths fine lines and prevent makeup from settling into the creases. It can also help to keep skin moisturized and protect the skin from the sometimes harsh chemicals within products. It seems to make it velvety soft, which enhances the smooth effects it has on your makeup appearance.

2. Reduce Redness: A good makeup primer will help to even out a skin tone and won’t irritate the skin – which means less foundation will be needed to create a “perfect finish”.

3. Seals Pores: I’ve never had large pores, but if you choose a liquid foundation, you already know no matter how small your pores are a liquid foundation can make them look more visible. A primer takes care of that by sealing pores and creating almost a blanket over them.

4. Anti-Aging: Most makeup primers don’t really have anti-aging properties, though some may include anti-aging ingredients. Yet what they do is make your skin appear much more youthful since they smooth out fine lines. This creates a more youthful appearance and reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Always try to find a primer that is all naturally based and free of chemicals and cheap fillers.

5. Makeup Stays On Longer: The main reason for using a primer is because it helps your makeup stay on longer. Primers help decrease sweating through the pores, which makes your makeup stay in place longer. They also act as a natural shield for dust, water and debris that might make your makeup wear off.

6. Lessens Acne Appearance: If you suffer from acne, makeup primers can help lessen the appearance. While they don’t help fight acne, they do help conceal it better and more subtly than concealer, though I’d suggest still using that after you apply primer.

So which primer is best? That’s a bit difficult to answer, if not impossible. However, I can tell you I'm in LOVE with Glorious Face and Eye Primer by Younique since coming across it in August 2014. This primer is also full of antioxidants and helps to retain moisture. Glorious is gluten-free, natural based, free of parabens, oils, synthetic fragrances, and cheap fillers. It is actually what prompted to me to write on this subject. I of course had already been using a MAC Cosmetics makeup primer prior to finding out about Glorious Face and Eye Primer by Younique , but in comparison I realized what I had been using was definitely not completing the job. Irritating actually, as my previous primer was of a high end brand. That takes me back to ” A girl doesn’t know, what a girl doesn’t know”. Well now this girl knows.

6 Ways You Can Use Younique’s Mineral Eye Pigments

Younique's Mineral Eye Pigments are luxurious eye shadows formulated with finely crushed minerals, amino acids, and vitamins that provide key nutrition for your skin. They are 100% natural, chemical-free, mineral based, free of talc, oils, preservatives, perfumes, synthetic dyes and parabens.

You lucky beauties have over 30 colours to choose from!

When you think of Younique’s Mineral Eye Pigments, what initially pops into your mind? Loose eye shadow? Yeah, that’s the same for most people. What if I told you that the mineral eye pigments are much more versatile than only being used as eye shadow? Ah, do I have your attention now?!

There’s nothing that excites me more than finding out a product has more than just one use. Really, I get quite excited about it because it means I get to play around with the product to learn what it can do and it also means that my money is well spent… as a single mother, I like spending my money wisely.

Besides using Younique's Mineral Eye Pigments as eye shadow, lets look at some of the creative ways you can use the pigments:

1. Nail Polish

That’s right, you can use the mineral eye pigments as nail polish. Want to create the perfect color of nail polish? Go right ahead. With 32 colors to choose from, you will find the right shade for you.

How? Pick the mineral eye pigment color you want to use and get some clear nail polish. Start off with ¼ teaspoon of pigment, put it into the clear nail polish, and shake! If you want a darker color, just add more pigment to the nail polish. Super easy and fun!

2. Hair Chalk

Want to have fun colored strands in your hair or in your daughter’s hair? Pick out the pigment colors you want to use and mix it with water until it’s consistency is like a paste. Paint it onto your strand of hair and set with a flat iron or blow dryer. This is great because the colors wash right out when you shampoo your hair. It’s such an easy and fun alternative to having permanent hair color!

3. Lip Gloss

There is so many beautiful mineral eye pigment shades that can be turned into lip gloss and the process is really easy! Mix the desired eye pigment color with Younique’s Loyal Lucrative lip gloss (or any clear lip gloss) and you have your own shade to put on your lips! The most popular pigments to use on your lips are: Heartbroken, Sassy, Sweet (blusher), and Vulnerable. It’s a great way to experiment with different shades to see what looks best on you!

4. Eyebrows
I love filling in my brows with Younique’s eye pigments. I find them to be extremely light and they always go on smoothly. I use the Beautiful (dry) pigment with my angled brush to fill in my brows. I always start with a little and can add more if I need to do so. Depending on your coloring, here are the most popular pigments to use to fill in eyebrows: Beautiful, Irresistible, Provoked, Infatuated, Corrupted. You could even add a little rosewater to the pigments to help them stay on longer.

5. Eyeliner

Mixing the eye pigments with rosewater is a great way to apply eyeliner with the angled brush. I like that the brush makes it easy to “draw” on my lids and it leaves me with a natural look.

6. Vibrant Color

Want an even more vibrant color out of your eye pigments? Put Glorious primer on first. Let it dry for a few minutes and then apply the eye pigments to your eyes. The color will be a much deeper and vibrant shade this way! It’s almost like having two shades of the same color!

Of course, all of these “extras” are in addition to applying the mineral eye pigments on your eyelids as eye shadow. Before Younique, I wasn’t a loose mineral eye pigment wearing girl, but I really love the pigments. A little goes a long way and the cute container really lasts a long time! What are your favorite ways to use the mineral eye pigments?

Younique Mineral Eye Pigments are a tremendous value, especially with all these uses!

5 Things Your Mom Never Told You About Makeup

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always been fascinated by mystery of makeup. I remember watching my mom at the mirror applying her makeup and thinking "How did she learn such things?"

Aren’t you thankful that we live in the age of the Internet so that we can watch videos on YouTube and learn how to properly apply makeup? Everything that we could possibly ever want to learn about makeup can be found online.

We can learn how to fill in our eyebrows, the best spots to apply blush for our face type, and other cool tricks that can help to enhance our look.

I’m pretty sure that our moms didn’t teach us any of the makeup tips below. (After all, I just learned about blow-drying my lashes a couple of weeks ago!) But to give our moms credit, the Internet wasn’t around then and times were a lot different.

Here’s The 5 Things Your Mom Probably Didn’t Tell You About Makeup:

1. Clean Makeup Brushes

This has to be the most important and most often broken rule. It may seem harmless to reuse a brush even on a clean face, however bacteria is always lurking; especially if there are active breakouts. A weekly cleanse is a must, and can help to prevent the spread of acne, clogged pores, and poor application caused by dirty brushes. A simple wash in baby shampoo or dish liquid followed by an alcohol mist is an affordable way to maintain your brushes as well as save your skin from harm.

Every artist needs a great tool set! Try Younique's Complete Brush Set. It is a must for any makeup lover, the Complete Brush Set includes all eight high-quality brushes for impeccable eye, cheek, and complexion makeup application. Carry the complete set with style in this convenient brush case.

2. Expiration Check

As with brushes, makeup itself can expire as it collects and grows bacteria. If ever a product starts to change shape, color, smell, or look off when applied, then it's time to repurchase or try something new. It's always good to go through your collection every 6 months and toss out things that either you haven't used in awhile or here’s the general rule of when to throw away your makeup:
  • Mascara: 3 months
  • Eye Shadow: 12 months
  • Lip Gloss: 12 months
  • Eye Liner: 12 months
  • Powder: 12-18 months
  • Blush: 2 years

3. Starts with Skincare and Primer

"Facials" are vital!! Always cleanse your face in the morning and at night! I am completely hooked on Younique's naturally based Illuminate facial cleanser and my skin as well. The makeup on top of it has never looked better.

Starting out with a blank, fresh canvas is vital for a flawless makeup application. Prepping what is underneath will help any products on top look more smooth and natural, as well as improve lasting time and evenness. Regular cleansing, exfoliation, toning and moisturizing is not only proper skincare, but also a perfect base for makeup.

Younique Glorious Face & Eye Primer creates a flawless canvas as it evens out the skin's texture, and primes and prepares the skin for premium application of mineral makeup. The resulting appearance is porcelain-perfect, velvety-soft skin with incredible long-wearing, sweat-resistant coverage of mineral makeup that lasts all day. Ingredients are naturally based, free of parabens, oils, synthetic fragrances, and cheap fillers. Suitable for all skin types.

4. Learn How To Highlight and Contour

I have a confession. I just learned how to highlight and contour...yes, yes I'm embarrassed to say [head down, hand over face]. I’ve always wanted to learn how to do this because who doesn’t want the illusion of a thinner face, smaller nose, nonexistent dark circles and more? Am I right?!

Here are the basics that I learned: To highlight, you want to pick two shades lighter than you would normally wear. To contour, you want to pick two shades darker than you would normally wear. The color you normally wear should be matched to your neck skin color, no where else. You always want to make sure to blend in small circles, especially by your jaw bone. No one wants to be two-toned down there.

5. "Magic" Mascara

Have you ever wanted longer lashes?? I mean, who doesn't these days. It usually comes with a high price tag and potentially harmful effects. Younique's best selling product with a pending patent on its formula, the 3D Fiber Lash Mascara dramatically enhances and magnifies the appearance of your own lashes 300x.

Our simple three-step process combines Transplanting Gel and Natural Fibers to help create the appearance of incredible thickness and volume to your existing lashes. Watch as your lashes transform into something you have only dreamed of! The 3D Fiber Lashes are water resistant but easily wash off with warm water and facial cleanser at the end of the day. Try it! It will quickly become your favorite makeup must-have!

**Tips & Tricks**

No Mess Mascara: When you put on your mascara, do you get mascara on your lashes and everywhere else too? Try using a business card, or even a plastic spoon to keep mascara on only your lashes! I finally found a reason to use all the cards you get when you go out to a bar with the girls.

Blow Dry Those Lashes Girl: After applying your mascara, use the blow dryer on the warm setting to curl your lashes and dry your mascara. Your lashes will go from average to BAM in a matter of seconds! I like to apply my Younique 3D Fiber Lashes (transplanting gel, fibers, transplanting gel, fibers, transplanting gel) to my lashes before I blow dry. It definitely gives my lashes a nice lift and a very noticeable difference.

Note: If you use a lash curler to curl your lashes, try warming the lash curler up with a blow dryer before using it on your lashes. It really makes a huge difference too! BUT be careful not to pull your lashes out!

Here's to great success. xoxo Ang
